Asif & Rene Live Jazz

Asif Pishori, international Jazz pianist and René Barrow, recording artist, vocalist and guitarist, first met in 2010, when René first returned to Sabah. They hit it off, and started performing as a Jazz standards duo for weddings, charities and corporate events.

Now, the Asif & Rene Jazz Band is an expandable setup, often with a saxophonist, lead guitarist, bassist, and drummer.

Their music is a mixture of jazz standards, jazzified rock standards, and original jazz fusion compositions.

At the 2012 KK International Jazz Festival,  they presented a funky incarnation of the Asif & Rene Jazz Quartet with Aldoreo bin Marunsai on bass and Kevin Coma on the cajon. Having performed with the funky Aldoreo as part of the pop-jazz band, Jackfruit, at the 2011 Nanjing Jazz & World Music Festival, they later started playing regularly with the talented Kevin Coma.
